  • New President and CEO at National Headquarters:  Barbara L. Thomas has been named the President and CEO of the NBMBAA.  She has been serving in that role on an interim level since September 2003.

  • NBMBAA 26th Annual Conference & Exposition: September 14-19, 2004. Location: George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. 

  • National NBMBAA Raffle: Enter for a chance to win a 2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK320.  Tickets are $50 each and the winner, who need not be present to win, will be announced at the conference.

Scholarship Reception: June 03, 2004. 6:00p-8:30p
Location: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Richmond VA
Guest Speaker: The Honorable Henry L. Marsh III, Senator - Virginia General Assembly
We will award scholarships to a group of qualified multicultural students consisting of high school seniors and collegiate level students all who are either majoring in business or planning to major in business.  Last year we awarded over $9,000 in scholarships.  This year we will award 12 scholarships.  Corporate donors for 2004 include Philip Morris and Hewlett-Packard.

Leaders of Tomorrow Case Competition: June 19, 2004.  8:00am-3:00pm  Location: University of Richmond, Jepson Leadership Bldg - Room 103
Sponsored By:
High school students from around the country analyze an MBA level business case and present their analysis and findings before a panel of judges.  Winning team members receive scholarship awards.

Member Appreciation Event:
June 2004. Location: TBD
Join us as we welcome members both old and new.  Food and beverages provided.  Free for active members.  A nominal donation will be requested of non-members.  Join the evening of the event and you can use your donation towards membership fees.

Member Spotlight

James H. Allen has been a member of NBMBAA since 1976 when he joined the NY chapter as a student member.  Mr. Allen is the CEO of JAMCAR International, an Internet and e-commerce company. He is married to Carole and they share 6 children and 9 grandchildren.  He was one of the defendants in the historical Brown v. Board of Education case while attending high school in Farmville, VA.  He received his MBA from Rutgers State University of New Jersey.  He is a charter member of the Richmond chapter as well as a life member of both the NAACP and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters 15th Annual Duck Race: July 31, 2004 @ 11:00a.  Grand Prize is s 2004 Ford Mustang. Location: Brown's Island, Downtown Richmond
    Enter 1 or more ducks in the race for a chance at prizes.  Money collected for this event goes to BBBS.  The chapter will receive a portion of each duck donation so please help us by adopting a duck, or two, or ten...  Ducks are $6 for one or $5 each if you adopt two or more.
