LEADERS OF TOMORROW
The
NBMBAA-Richmond Metropolitan Chapter strives to make the Leaders of
Tomorrow® (LOT) program one of the premiere youth programs in the
Richmond Tri-Cities and Hampton Roads areas by providing mentors and
opportunities for youth to recognize their potential to become
tomorrow's business leaders in all industries.
The Richmond LOT program
consists of the following areas:
Case Competition: In preparation for the national competition,
high school students from local area high schools, with the help of a
group of Richmond NBMBAA members, analyze an MBA level business case and
put together a presentation based upon their analysis. The Richmond
chapter plans to host several mini-case competitions throughout the year
that will be used as a recruitment vehicle to select the students that
will comprise the Richmond team at the annual National Black MBA
Association Case Competition.
Entrepreneur Program: The NBMBAA has always
recognized the importance of entrepreneurs to the African-American
community. It is leading the way to create opportunities for
African-American business owners and trailblazing entrepreneurs. It is
even more important when you consider that African-Americans comprise
the largest minority buying group, representing two (2) of every 3
dollars spent by minorities. The Richmond chapter is proud to have
formed partnerships with local organizations and small businesses in
order to provide entrepreneur training and opportunities for area teens.
The diverse Richmond NBMBAA membership, which comprises of many
entrepreneurs, has also proven to be a great source of mentors for this
program.

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
The NBMBAA-Richmond
recognizes that providing development opportunities to our members is
one of the key retention factors. This goal is met in the following
ways.
Professional Development – We strive to develop exceptional
programming to enhance
professional and career growth. This is done in the following ways:
-
Guest
Speaker Forum – Local leaders and business professionals share their
experiences
and lessons learned during our regularly scheduled meetings and
events.
-
Employment
Network – Local businesses and corporate partners advertise various
opportunities with their organizations through our communications
vehicles (i.e. newsletter,
website, mailing lists, etc.).
Personal
Development – We provide our members with personal enrichment
opportunities that
help promote learning outside of the professional arena. This is done in
the following ways:
-
Educational Seminars – Subject matter experts share their knowledge
and answer
members’ questions in a predetermined venue.
-
Local
Events – Members, their families and peers attend local events of
interest that are
sponsored by NBMBAA-Richmond partner organizations.
